We had some Mini Monsters come to visit our class and we got to meet and stroke each of the creatures. We met Winston the bearded dragon lizard, Gary and Michelle the giant snails, Mildred the millipede, Salsa the milk snake and Trinny the tarantula. They were all very friendly!
We had a giant visitor in school! The whole of Oak class worked together to measure the footprints. We started by counting how many of our feet could fit inside it, and then we tried measuring in centimetres with rulers and metre sticks. We read the story called ‘The Smartest Giant in Town’ by Julia Donaldson. In this book he gives away all his clothes to help people. We thought it would be nice if someone gave him some clothes back- so we made him some! We measured out some mittens and some giant socks for him and worked together as a team to get them ready. Great giant maths work everyone!
It is Chinese New Year, and we have been celebrating in lots of different ways. We had had a go at some Chinese writing, it was very tricky. We looked at our birthdays, and worked out which animal year we were born in. We were all either dragons, snakes or rabbits. Next we did some dragon dancing, have a look at our videos! Then we had a taste of some Chinese noodles and prawn crackers. They were very tasty, but the chopsticks were not easy. We decided to stick to forks to eat our noodles. Happy year of the dog everybody!
